As my artefact, I decided to make a cardboard model out of a SketchUp design I made based on a tiny house I saw on YouTube.

I used a 1:20 scale for every 1cm in my cardboard model; it was 20cm on my SketchUp design.

My Artefact

As you can see from the images, all the measurements are in centimeters. When calculating the ratio 1:20, I would divide the number shown in the SketchUp design by 20. Here are some examples:

650÷20=32.5cm

110÷20=5.5cm

This is the YouTube video that I made the replica of in SketchUp because I really like the design and how cozy it feels.

The stairs were one of the most difficult to build in SketchUp and out of cardboard because first I had to measure the footprint I wanted the stairs to take up on the floor plan, and then I had to figure out how many steps I wanted without making it feel as though you are climbing a ladder or having to small steps that it felt like you were falling off the stairs. I ended up landing on the number 6; it had the right balance of all my requirements.

Once I had made calculations, it was time to make it 20 timessmaller and make it out of cardboard. I had to line everything up and cut the cardboard into really small pieces. In some way, though, it was really relaxing, almost like LEGO. Once everything was cut and measured, it all clicked together.
